New in 2024: The ADS Pleasure Driving Committee has created the ADS Pleasure Driving Reinsmanship Award to recognize competition achievement in Reinsmanship.
This award is based on driver wins in Reinsmanship (Art 222), Freestyle Reinsmanship (Art 223) or Super Reinsmanship (Art 224). Class size for singles must be three entries or more, for multiples (Pairs, Tandems, Unicorns, Four in Hands) two entries or more. The driver is responsible for keeping records of their wins on the provided record sheet, and must include the class size and secretary’s or organizer’s signature. If wins and class size can be verified either by records on the ADS website, or from Carriage Driving Today records, results will be accepted from pleasure driving shows prior to 2024.
The first level of achievement is Bronze, which requires a total of five wins in any combination of Reinsmanship classes. When a driver has won ten Reinsmanship classes, they reach Silver level. Fifteen wins reach Gold level. Drivers will receive pins for each level donated by a kind sponsor, and have their names and photos included in “The Whip” magazine.
This award program evolved from our previous program which recognized Working and Reinsmanship classes. It is hoped that with better publicity and promotion by organizers, more members who compete in Pleasure Driving competition will take part, and support Reinsmanship classes at competitions.
